There were another 433 deaths in Italy related to coronavirus over the last 24 hours, with 163 of them in Lombardy, but hospital and intensive care admissions continue to fall.

The latest statistics released by the Government confirm 433 deaths, taking the total since the crisis began to 23,660.

This is another drop from yesterday’s 482 deaths.

The number of patients in intensive care dropped again to 2,635, as 98 were released over the last 24 hours.

Another 2,128 were given the all-clear entirely and since yesterday a further 50,708 swab tests were performed.

There are currently 108,257 people actively suffering from COVID-19 today in Italy, with 80,589 of them in self-isolation at home, not requiring hospital treatment.

There are 25,033 in hospital wards plus 2,635 in intensive care.

Since the pandemic began in Italy, 178,972 people contracted the virus, with 47,055 of them already making a full recovery.

The flattening of the curve suggests that the Government will open Phase 2 of the pandemic response from May 4, including allowing players to get back to training with a specific social distancing and testing protocol.
