Coronavirus cases top 200,000 worldwide, death toll nears 9,000

The total number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus worldwide has now surpassed 200,000, while the death toll is approaching 9,000.
The Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering's online tally showed 218,629 cumulative cases by 17:00 CET, with 84,383 listed as recovered.
It also recorded 8,940 deaths with Italy reporting 475 in the past 24 hours.
The countries with the most confirmed cases were China, Italy, Iran, Spain and Germany. At least 81,174 people in China, 35,713 people in Italy, 17,361 people in Iran, 14,769 in Spain and 12,327 people in Germany were infected.
