LIKE A MODEL: Scarlett Gartmann - The German model who ties down Reus' heart

Hello, everyone! Welcome to All Football column LIKE A MODEL! Today we will show you German model, Scarlett Gartmann, who's just got married to Marco Reus recently.

Scarlett Gartmann was born on October 24, 1993, in Hagen, Germany. She lost her father at a young age and thus, was raised by her mother and paternal grandmother. To distract her from the loss of her father, she took up a hobby in equestrianism – something she has carried with her to this day. She often posts photos with her horse named Sandro.

She’s now a pretty well-known model, considering she’s only been in the industry professionally for around 7 years. She had her debut in the fashion world when she was 19 years old on the runway of Berlin Fashion Week. After that, she scored her first professional contract with the MGM agency in Dusseldorf.

Since starting her modeling career, she has done ad campaigns with big names across various industries. Some of the companies she has advertised for are Hyundai and Volkswagen, as well as fashion brands like Gerry Weber and Drykorn. Not to mention gracing the covers of magazines!

And speaking of her advertising campaigns, there was a bit of a controversy surrounding Scarlett back in late 2017.

Just for a bit of context, influencer marketing is a huge trend now in the world of advertising. Many companies will partner with “influencers” – basically people not quite as famous as singers or actors but more famous than your average citizen – to promote their products to their army of social media followers. In Germany, it’s illegal for citizens to advertise products on their social media platforms – at least not without proper “marking”.

According to the most recent decision by the Celle Higher Regional Court, there needs to be proper notification in any social media post that it is, indeed, a paid advertisement. An example would be marking the post as PROMOTION (Werbung) or ADVERTISING (Anzeige) either in the post or amongst the hashtags.

So, getting back to Scarlett. She received a court order in 2017 because of some pictures she had posted on her Instagram account. She had some photos showing expensive bags and watches and did not make it clear that they were paid advertisements. It didn’t really turn into a big deal; as far as we can tell, she just needed to make a court appearance. Her more recent posts show that any advertisements are official partnerships.

Scarlett and Marco have been together since late 2015/early 2016 but it’s not clear exactly how they met. She often posts photos of them together and the love they share is enough to warm your ice cold heart. 

In October 2018, the pair took to Instagram to announce that they are expanding their family to welcome a little girl! At the end of March in 2019, their daughter was born.

And on December 21th, the pairs got married! They went down to city hall and get hitched silently and secretly.
