Hat-trick victor Lionel Messi reelected as All Football Player of the Week

Lionel Messi has been named All Football Player of the Week, AGAIN.

Messi highlights our All Football Team of the Week and was selected as a competitive candidate in our All Football Player of the Week Vote, in which he casts the most votes beating Rashford, Joaquin, Vardy and Son Heung-min to the award.

The Barca captain has shown that his sixth Ballon d'Or award was well-deserved last weekend. In the home game against Mallorca, Messi's hat-trick helped Blaugrana smash rival with 5-2. 

Receiving the ball 25 yards from goal, the Argentine bended it beautifully into the top corner in trademark fashion at 19'. And then in a quickfire counter just before the first half ended, a sharp exchange of passes between Suarez and Rakitic sets up Messi who, similarly to his first goal, curled a terrific effort into the far corner.

The story continued. The skipper completes his treble as he fires into the roof of the net following a neat lay-off from Suarez to secure the final score at 89'.

With his hat-trick against Mallorca, his 35th in La Liga, he also overtakes the 34 that Cristiano Ronaldo achieved, with four goals on four occasions and 31 hat-tricks, compared to five goals on two occasions, four goals on four occasions and 28 hat-tricks for Cristiano.
