Each week throughout the 2019-20 season, Sportsmail will bring you a Power Rankings table, listing the top 10 hottest players in the Premier League.

As the stories of the season unravel, the rankings will provide a form guide with players moving in and out of the top 10 depending on both their performances in the previous fixtures and also in recent weeks.

So, who wins a place in the 14th edition of our Power Rankings?

10: Kevin De Bruyne (down seven)

Saturday's result was dreadful for Manchester City and meant they now fall further behind leaders Liverpool - the gap now stands at 11 points. But Kevin De Bruyne's goal in the 82nd minute was arguably goal of the season so far.

City's talisman controlled a high clearance with his chest and unleashed a thunderous right-footed strike that rocketed in off the underside of the crossbar to restore his side's lead in the final 10 minutes of the match.

It was a goal fit to win any match but football writes its own tales, as City and De Bruyne found out four minutes later when Jonjo Shelvey levelled the game once again.

9: James Maddison (down two)

The Leicester playmaker had a tough afternoon against an Everton side who came out fighting for under-fire manager Marco Silva.

But it was exactly that which meant we saw a different side to Maddison. We are used to the deft flicks, the pinpoint deliveries and tenacious shots from range but on Sunday, it was a performance of graft and hard yards.

He, and Leicester, got their reward with a 90th minute winner.

8: Sadio Mane (down six)

It is a rare weekend now where Sadio Mane is not among the Liverpool scorers but Brighton were successful in restricting Mane's openings in front of goal.

But, much like Maddison, it was an afternoon of hard work for the Senegal star and he did not shirk his responsibilities. He created an opening for Roberto Firmino and was always a threat on the left side of Liverpool's attack.

It was a crucial three points for Liverpool, who have a Merseyside derby next.

7: Bernd Leno (new entry)

The goalkeeper was man of the match in Arsenal's first game under Freddie Ljungberg and it is an accurate signifier of how things went against Norwich on Sunday.

But while Arsenal were disjointed and lacking in cohesion, their goalkeeper was on top form.

He made three outstanding saves in the second half to keep Norwich at bay; the pick being the left-handed touch that turned a venomous low strike from Kenny McLean around the post.

Playing behind that Arsenal defence is no mean feat and Leno repeatedly came to their rescue at Carrow Road.

6: James Ward-Prowse (new entry)

When you are in the bottom three and without a win in your last eight Premier League matches - one of which being a 9-0 defeat - you need something to encourage a turnaround.

For Southampton, that came from James Ward-Prowse in the 83rd minute of their 2-1 win over Watford on Saturday night. The midfielder stepped up and whipped in a fabulous 25-yard free-kick to haul Saints into the lead with a goal that could breathe new life into Southampton's season.

Ralph Hassenhuttl's men have an encouraging run of fixtures ahead of them and thanks to Ward-Prowse, they go into Wednesday's encounter at home to Norwich with that winning feeling once again.

5:  Jamie Vardy (down four)

The Leicester striker is in the form of his life and the clamour for him to return to the England fold is growing by the week.

This weekend, he sparked Leicester's comeback against Everton with his 13th goal of the season and his 10th strike in his last eight appearances.

It was a quieter display than the fireworks Leicester fans have been used to recently but Vardy stayed alert to convert a cross-shot from Kelechi Iheanacho as Leicester recorded a vital victory.

4: Wilfried Zaha (new entry)

It seems to be said numerous times every season but Wilfried Zaha looks good enough to play for most teams in Europe. On Saturday, he starred as Palace recorded an eye-catching 2-0 win at Turf Moor against Burnley.

It's two goals in two games now for the Ivory Coast international and while Palace are 11th in the Premier League table, they are only two points from fifth, such is the bunched nature of the standings outside the top four.

Zaha looks to be coming into form at a good time - Palace can back themselves against most teams in their next five games, starting on Tuesday at home to Bournemouth. If their talisman can help them string together a run of wins, who know where they will end up...

3: Kelechi Iheanacho (new entry)

A new entry that nobody saw coming but if Kelechi Iheanacho can replicate what he produced as a substitute for Leicester on Sunday, he could add a new dimension to their attack this season.

Iheanacho came off the bench to assist one and score another to propel Leicester to a comeback 2-1 win over Everton and maintain their place in second in the Premier League. They remain the nearest challenger to Liverpool, right points behind Jurgen Klopp's men.

There is a good player in Iheanacho but he has toiled at Leicester since joining from Manchester City. If Brendan Rodgers can restore his confidence and belief, then Sunday might not only be the match-defining performance from his this season.

2: Dele Alli (new entry)

Jose Mourinho's tenure at Tottenham is only three games old but Dele Alli's resurgence is already a remarkable story of his time at White Hart Lane.

His double-strike proved pivotal in Tottenham's 3-2 win over Bournemouth on Saturday and it was victory that saw Spurs rise into fifth place in the Premier League. Things already feel much rosier at White Hart Lane.

Alli now has three goals in as many games under Mourinho and looks to be on the way to regaining the poise in his play that seems to have slowly drifted away in the past 18 months.

It is an ominous sign for Manchester United, who Tottenham host at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

1: Virgil van Dijk (new entry)

It was scrappy in the end, but it ultimately does not matter for Liverpool because the three points puts Manchester City further behind them.

Van Dijk scored twice to lead Liverpool to a crucial 2-1 win against Brighton and served a timely reminder as to why he could win the Balon d'Or later on Monday. Both goals were assisted by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Van Dijk looks so authoritative in the air that you sometimes are left wonder why he doesn't score from set pieces every game.

Brighton snatched a late goal after Alisson was sent off for handball and it was a nervy finish at Anfield but another vital win was secured for the league leaders.
