Dynamo Kiev star Domagoj Vida was left oozing blood after a sickening clash of heads with Young Boys midfielder Moumi Ngamaleu cracked his head open.

The club captain, who is known for his no-nonsense style throughout the Ukrainian league, required urgent medical attention after he appeared to be knocked out as the pair battled for an aerial ball.

Following lengthy treatment, the defender amazingly tried to continue playing in the Europa League clash, but was forced to withdraw when the bleeding leaked through his bandage.

Vida looked disappointed as he walked off the field, but pictures of the incident will leave him in no doubt as to why he was withdrawn.

His head and shirt were soaked in blood reminiscent of a famous picture of England legend Terry Butcher.

Ngamaleu also required medical treatment and continued on for a short while before he was eventually substituted with just five minutes left on the clock.

As for the match, a Europa League group tie, the two teams shared the spoils as they played out a 2-2 draw, leaving Kiev on top of the group on seven points and Young Boys second on three.

The Swiss side twice took the lead through Roger Assale with Mykola Moroziuk and  Dieumerci Mbokani hitting the equalising goals.

Vida, who moved to Kiev in 2013, has 51 caps for Croatia and has won two league titles with the club.
