Ravel Morrison showed a glimpse of the talent he possesses with a superb first goal for Atlas.

The Lazio loanee came on as a substitute and managed to pull his side level, bamboozling a defender with a step-over before striking a powerful effort from just outside the box.

Club America went on to score the winner but Morrison will have made an impression on his new fans.

Unfortunately for the 24-year-old, this was just a friendly but given that it was played in Chicago's Toyota Park he will have enjoyed the exposure to the US.

Morrison's impressive drive came in the 60th minute but the Guadalajara club were undone 13 minutes later as opposition striker Silvio Romero popped up to score the winner.

Morrison will be hoping to revive his career in Mexico where he has been sent out after failing to establish himself at Lazio.

Despite his relative youth and clear talent, the precocious former England U21 player has already spent time at seven different clubs without sustained success.

There are frequently flashes of brilliance from Morrison and former Birmingham boss Lee Clark once described him as 'the best English player since Paul Gascoigne'.

But that ability on the pitch has been tempered by what is perceived to be tumultuous life off it.

In 2008 he was cautioned for common assault and in 2011 pleaded guilty to witness intimidation. He was also fined £600 for throwing his girlfriend's phone through an open window.

Morrison will hope his troubles are behind him and that he can push on to fulfill the potential, to prove moments of magic like his debut goal for Atlas are more than just a flash in the pan.
