Aston Villa set to sign Birkir Bjarnason from Basel

Aston Villa are expected to complete the signing of Iceland international Birkir Bjarnason on Wednesday, according to Sky sources.

The 28-year-old midfielder has completed a medical at Villa Park and agreed personal terms on a switch after a fee was agreed with FC Basel.

Bjarnason has scored eight goals in 57 international appearances and featured for Iceland in their 2-1 victory over England at Euro 2016.
