Gerard Moreno returns to the RCDE Stadium as a Spain international and Pichichi

Villarreal striker Gerard Moreno will face Espanyol, his former team, on Sunday after a week in which he made his Spain debut against Sweden, while he returns to LaLiga Santander action as the current Pichichi, albeit level with Karim Benzema and Loren Moron.

The Catalan departed the RCDE Stadium in the summer of 2018 and, after a mixed first season in his second spell with the Yellow Submarine, he has impressed with his performances so far in the 2019/20 campaign.

Gerard has scored six of his team's 19 goals and is considered to be an undisputed starter under Javi Calleja.

Although he scored 16 goals for Espanyol in his final season with Los Periquitos, it was only last Tuesday that he played his first minutes with La Roja.

While at Spain's training base, Gerard made clear that he still has affection for the Catalan side and that he suffers when things are not going well with his former team.
