The Tartan Army captain believes that his countrymen will take inspiration from the tennis star's recent successes, and get a positive result with England
Darren Fletcher claims that Andy Murray's rise to the top of men's tennis has given Scotland's footballers extra inspiration for their clash with England.
Murray has won his last four tournaments on the ATP Tour to climb above Novak Djokovic and secure top spot in the rankings for the first time in his career.
Scotland's form this year has been somewhat different with only three victories from seven matches in 2016.
They face neighbouring rivals England at Wembley on Friday as they look to get their World Cup qualifying campaign back on track, and Fletcher says the tennis star's heroics has given them extra belief.
"I think he is coming to the game which is great,” the West Brom midfielder told reporters.
"He will be like all the rest of the Scotland supporters I am sure, supporting his country.
"For us he is an inspiration for what he has achieved in tennis. His never-say-die attitude, looking to keep improving and battling for a number of years against arguably some of the greatest tennis players of all time and to keep driving himself forward to try to improve those small margins.
"He has fought to be the No 1 tennis player in the world so we can take inspiration from him as a sportsman, showing that there is no real ceiling on what you can achieve if you dedicate yourself.
Strachan confident ahead of England match
"If you have real dedication and desire, you can achieve almost what you wish."
