Vincent Kompany is reportedly interested in signing veteran defender Ashley Williams to bolster his struggling Anderlecht side.
The former Manchester City captain has endured a torrid start to life in the hot seat at his boyhood club and is keen to add some much-needed experience to his side.
And The Sun believe that 33-year-old Kompany is eyeing up a swoop for current Bristol City man Williams when his contract expires in January.
Anderlecht have recorded just a single victory since Kompany was hired in the summer, and already sit 14 points behind Club Brugge in top spot.
But it is believed that the Robins are keen to extend Williams' deal after a string of impressive showings since he arrived on a short-term contract in August.
Williams was a regular opponent of Kompany's during the duo's time in the Premier League - with the Welsh defender, who has recently been recalled to the international set-up, representing both Swansea and Everton.
But despite a rough term on loan at Stoke last season, Kompany is hoping to add Williams to his ranks, which also includes former City midfielder Samir Nasri, ex-Tottenham wideman Nacer Chadli and Kemar Roofe.
Lee Johnson's men currently lie in seventh place, and hold the ability to commit the 35-year-old to fresh terms in January.
And the Bristol City manager is hopeful that Williams will extend his stay at Ashton Gate.
Before a goalless stalemate with league leaders Swansea two weeks ago, Johnson had said: 'I've been really pleased with him so far. I think he's got two or three years left in him, I really do.
'This club is very fortunate to have a player of Ashley's quality. We're not going into it with a short-term mindset.'
