With acquisition from Chinese investors, West Bromwich Albion is paying much more attention to the fans overseas, especially in China.
They had became the first Premier League club to open an official account on the biggest football app in China. WEST Bromwich Albion write the news as follow on the club's official website:
WEST Bromwich Albion have become the first Premier League football club to open an official account on Dongqiudi, a fast growing football-focused social platform.
The Baggies officially launched on the platform earlier this month as part of a wider initiative to take the Club closer to its overseas supporters, particularly in China. The official account has already received great interaction from Chinese fans utilising the platform.
With more than 2,000,000 daily active users and a 60 per cent increase in its audience quarterly, the Club’s presence on the app will provide a direct route to connect with the growing Chinese fan base while also supporting broader plans for the development of football and the Albion brand in the country.
“We are very pleased to have taken another step forward in our efforts to better communicate with our growing fan base in China,” said George Harborne, Albion’s Head of Partnerships.
“China has and will continue to have a strong focus for us, particularly following the recent acquisition of the Club. This launch with Dongqiudi sees the first China majority owned Premier League club, West Bromwich Albion, become the first Premier League club to open an official account on this popular platform.”
Chen Cong, the CEO of Dongqiudi said: “We’re delighted to see West Bromwich Albion being the first Premier League club to open an official account on Dongqiudi App.
“With the recent acquisition from Chinese investors, the number of the Hawthorns' Chinese fans is growing at a steady pace.
“By establishing partnership with the club, we want to offer as much convenience as we can to Albion fans in China via the platform we provide. We see this as a win-win situation both for us and the club.
