Tottenham sell EPL most expensive kit at £161

Next time you raise an eyebrow at someone showing their support by wearing a full kit, spare a thought for how much it set them back to look like that.

Supporters of Tottenham have it worst. Should a fan want to look exactly like Harry Kane on match-day, it will cost him £161, including £55 for their ‘elite’ shorts.

Chelsea’s kit is only 15p cheaper, while Manchester United charge £151.85. Sportsmail’s table shows how Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool then sell theirs for £146, £145 and £137.98 respectively.

All of that is the cost of buying the ‘authentic’ kit, which is the same as the one the players wear on a Saturday. Even Southampton sell an ‘elite’ shirt – and it costs £100.

Not all clubs offer this as they tend to stick to selling ‘replica’ kits. When it comes to that, 12 of the Premier League’s 20 sides sell theirs for less than £100.

Burnley offer the best bargain. Their full ‘replica’ kit costs £77 – £45 for the shirt, £20 for the shorts and £12 for the socks. They also sold the cheapest last year.

Norwich are close behind Burnley on £84, followed by Bournemouth on £85 and Brighton on £87.

At the opposite end, Manchester United sell the most expensive ‘replica’ kit at £116.85. For those who do not wish to pay £161 for Tottenham’s ‘elite’ kit, they can get their ‘replica’ edition for £111.

Tottenham, like last year, were the last of all 20 clubs to release their new kit.

United and adidas have escaped being accused of exploitation this year. In July 2018, it emerged the club’s ‘authentic’ home kit could cost supporters as much as £193.

Neither the ‘elite’ shorts or socks are for sale on United’s official online shop nor the adidas website at the time of writing. That is largely why they do not top our table now.
