Forget big money signings and cutting edge tactics, it's the sweet taste of $1 beers that is helping to boost the fortunes of American side Phoenix Rising.
The USL Championship side, who play their football in the division below MLS, made the decision to offer fans $1 Bud Light beers at every Friday night home game in 2019 in a bid to boost attendances and create a 'treacherous' atmosphere.
The ingenious initiative has coincided with an incredible 12-game winning streak on Fridays, while they have also sold out their stadium for each of their last 13 home games, the last of which equalled a club record attendance of 7,387.
Unsurprisingly, Phoenix's Friday night home games are attended by an average of 600 more fans than Saturday games, while the club have become one of the best-supported sides in the USL.
On Friday, Phoenix thrashed Austin Bold 6-0 to continue their unstoppable run of form at home, which sees them sat three points clear at the top of the USL, with 12 wins from their 19 games this season.
Such has been the success of beer night, the club are also offering happy hour pricing on the rest of their alcohol selection in the hope it will persuade fans to keep packing out their Casino Arizona Field home.
As if it couldn't get any better for supporters, they can also be picked up before home games from a number of local bars by a free bus service provided by the club and then dropped off again afterwards.
