70 games! Coutinho leads 2018/19 apps charts for players in Europe's top leagues

The summer's international tournaments have finally come to a close, bringing an official end to the 2018/19 season.

Philippe Coutinho is the player from Europe's top leagues who has played the most matches over the course of the campaign.

The forward played his 70th match of the season in the Copa America final for Brazil against Peru.

He played a total of 54 matches for Barcelona (34 in LaLiga Santander, 12 in the Champions League, seven in the Copa del Rey and one in the Supercopa de Espana), scoring 11 goals.

Coutinho's other 16 games came in a Brazil shirt (10 friendlies and six in the Copa America this summer).

Below Coutinho, Ajax's Daley Blind played the second highest number of matches (67), while Eden Hazard came joint-third with Quincy Promes on 66 matches.

Players in Europe's top leagues with the most matches during 2018/19

If you look at the leagues across the world, Monterrey's Jesus Gallardo is the player with the most matches played during the 2018/19 campaign on 72.

As for most minutes played during the season, Celtic's Callum McGregor leads the way with a total of 5,894 minutes for club and country.

Coutinho doesn't even make the top 10 in this regard while Daley Blind is still positioned high up in the rankings.
