On this day in 1987 - Lionel Messi came to earth

On 24 June 1987, Lionel Messi was born in Rosario, Argentina. He has since become one of the world's best players, winning a record five Ballons d'Or.

820 appearances, 671 goals, 285 assists, 10 La Liga titles, 7 Supercopa, 6 Copa del Rey, 4 UCL champions, 3 UEFA Super Cup, 3 Club World Cup, 1 Olympics, 6 Golden Shoe, 5 Ballon d'Or. We are all witnessing the history.

On this day in 2015 - Roberto Firmino signed for Liverpool

Liverpool signed Brazil forward Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim on a five-year deal for a fee of about £29m on June 24th 2015. Goalscoring and work rate have earned him plaudits at Liverpool, with manager Jürgen Klopp referring to Firmino as the "engine" that propels the club's counter-attacking system. He has won the UCL champions with the reds this season with 192 appearances, 66 goals and 47 assists.

On this day in 2001 - Pep Guardiola played in his last ever game for Barça

On 11 April 2001, Barcelona's captain announced his intention to leave the club after 17 years of service. He stated that it was a personal decision and, in part, a response to what he perceived as football heading in a new, more physical, direction. On 24 June 2001, Guardiola played his last match with Barça in the final game of the season against Celta de Vigo. Guardiola played 479 games in 12 seasons for the first team, winning 16 trophies. 

At the press conference after the Celta game, he said, "It's been a long journey. I'm happy, proud, happy with the way people treated me and I have made many friends. I cannot ask for more. I have had many years in the elite. I did not come to make history but to make my own history."

He returned to Barcelona on 21 June 2007 as coach of Barca B team, and the rest is another history...

On this day in 1992 - One of the best left back, Bayern Munich's David Alaba was born

Born in Vienna, Alaba began his career with SV Aspern, he started out in Bayern's youth system. Since joining Bayern Munich on July 1st 2008, he has won 5 DFB Pokal titles, 8 Bundesliga, 5 DFL super cup, 1 UCL, 1 UEFA super cup and 1 Club World Cup with 344 appearances, 29 goals and 46 assists.

He also holds Austria's record as the youngest player to play for their senior national team, debuting for them in 2009 as a 17-year-old.

On this day in 1967 - Legendary goalkeeper Ray Clemence joined Liverpool

Ray Clemence is one of only 25 players to have made over 1,000 career appearances. He currently acts as Head of the FA Development Team, overseeing the development made by players in the England Youth teams from under-16 to 21 level, having previously been part of the England Senior team back room staff. He went on to keep 323 clean sheets in 665 appearances for the Reds.
