Hello AFers! Welcome to All Football Coach of the Season. We name the best coaches of Europe's major leagues after monthly recognition.
Liverpool coach Klopp, Man City coach Guardiola, Chelsea coach Sarri, Tottenham coach Pochettino, Ajax coach Ten Hag and Bayern Munich coach Kovac are the six nominees for our Coach of the Season votings based on their excellent works during the 2018-19 season.
First, let's take a glimpse at the monthly winners.
2018-19 All Football Coach of the Month winners
September: Maurizio Sarri (Chelsea)
October: Ernesto Valverde (Barcelona)
November: Pep Guardiola (Man City)
December: Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool)
January: Ole Gunner Solskjaer (Man Utd)
February: Pep Guardiola (Man City)
March: Ernesto Valverde (Barcelona)
April: Ernesto Valverde (Barcelona)
Klopp, Guardiola, and Sarri have also earned our nominations for Coach of the Season, while Valverde and Solskjaer are dropped due to their poor finish of the season.
Ten Hag, Pochettino and Kovac have also been named thanks to their excellent works.
1. Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool)
Achievements: Champions League winner, Premier League runner-up
No more final misery this time, he is the man to honor Liverpool.
Klopp lifted his first trophy as Liverpool manager as the Reds clinched club's 6th European Cups.
Despite missing out on Premier League title once again, we have reason to believe the German has helped achieve Liverpool's best season in recent years.
2. Pep Guardiola (Man City)
Achievements: Domestic quadruple (Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, Community Shield)
He conquered England once again, in a more dominant way.
Guardiola completed unprecedented English domestic treble after Community Shield win in the very start of the season.
Especially, the 48-year old won the season-long battle with Liverpool and defended Premier League title with 98 points
3. Maurizio Sarri (Chelsea)
Achievements: Europa League winner, Premier League third place
From an employee in bank to a winner in Europe, he finally got his first medal.
Sarri lifted Europa League trophy with Chelsea keeping unbeaten in this season's European stage.
The 60-year-old also helped the Blues finish third in Premier League above their London rivals.
4. Niko Kovac (Bayern Munich)
Achievements: Domestic double (Bundesliga, DFB Pokal)
He has done it through doubts and criticism, proving himself to be the right man for the job.
Kovac led Bayern to their record 7th consecutive Bundesliga title after reserving the infinite battle with Dortmund.
The 47-year-old also won back-to-back DFB Pokals to deliver Bavarians domestic double.
5. Erik Ten Hag (Ajax)
Achievements: Domestic double (Eredivisie, KNVB Beker), Champions League semifinalist
He made his name prevalent in Europe after a stunning season with Ajax.
Ten Hag helped Ajax eliminate Ronaldo-less Real Madrid and Ronaldo's Juventus to reach Champions League final 4.
Despite not being able to fulfill European dreams, the precious domestic double was enough to cap a successful season for Ajax.
6. Mauricio Pochettino (Tottenham Hotspur)
Achievements: Champions League finalist, Premier League fourth place
He is the only trophyless nominee, but don't forget, Spurs didn't sign anyone last summer.
Pochettino and his warriors were brilliant enough this season as they completed Champions League comeback miracles to eliminate mighty Man City and Ajax.
The miserable loss in their first ever Champions League final is not the end, but a start to Spurs' new age.
