On this day in 2012, Hazard announced he was joining Chelsea

In the 2010–11 season, he was a part of the Lille team that won the league and cup double. In June 2012 Hazard signed for English club Chelsea, where he went on to win the UEFA Europa League in his first season and the PFA Young Player of the Year in his second.

In the 2014–15 season, he helped Chelsea win the League Cup and Premier League, earning him the FWA Footballer of the Year and the PFA Players' Player of the Year awards. Two years later he won his second English title as Chelsea secured the 2016–17 Premier League.

Hazard is expected to depart Stamford Bridge this summer, having long been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

On this day in 1928, FIFA decided to organize World Cup

To host the inaugural World Cup, FIFA looked to reigning two-time Olympic champions Uruguay, for whom 1930 was also the centennial anniversary of their independence from Brazil.

Unfortunately, the choice of Uruguay as host country placed a significant travel burden on the European national sides, leading only four - Belgium, France, Romania, and Yugoslavia - to participate. They were joined by seven South American teams and two North American teams to make a total of thirteen participating nations.

That first World Cup concluded with host Uruguay successfully defending its world champion status from the Olympics with a 4-2 victory over Argentina in the Final.

On this day in 2017, Totti played his final game for Roma

Francesco Totti was in tears after a presentation to mark the final appearance of his 25-year Roma career.

The 40-year-old forward, who has scored 307 goals in 786 games for his only club, came on in the 54th minute in the win over Genoa to a standing ovation.

After the game, Totti read a letter to the fans, including: "I'm afraid. I can't see what the future looks like."

On this day in 2003, Milan beat Juventus on penalties in UCL final

They completed the first 120 minutes of play deadlocked at 0-0, the shootout took place in front of the Juventus section. After four kicks each, Milan were up 1-2, with both Buffon and Milan keeper Dida making critical saves. Juventus forward and captain Alessandro Del Piero converted his team's last kick to level the score, putting the pressure on Milan's last kicker, Shevchenko. But the Ukrainian confidently stroked the ball past Buffon for the win, 0-0 (2-3).

Coincidentally, it was the third Champions League trophy for Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf, who had won it in 1995 with Ajax (against Milan) and in 1998 with Real Madrid (against Juventus).

On this day in 1980, Nottingham Forest repeated as UCL champions

Forest's Trevor Francis, who scored the winning goal in 1979, was out injured, but they found another hero in winger John Robertson (pictured). In the 20th minute, Robertson played the ball to forward Garry Birtles, who held it up under pressure, then sent it back to a charging Robertson, who fired it low to the keeper's left, just edging it inside the post. It turned out to be the winner as the game ended 1-0.

On this day in 1991, Arsenal ace Lacazette was born

Lacazette was the subject of, at the time, a club-record transfer to Arsenal in 2017, when he moved from Lyon in a deal worth £46.5 million In England, Lacazette captured an FA Community Shield title in his debut season. In his second season, he was named the club's Player of the Season and gained praise for his strike partnership with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Lacazette previously played as a winger for Lyon, before becoming a striker. As well as goalscoring and finishing ability, characteristics of his game are pace, strength, balance, technique, dribbling, link-up play, and ability with either foot. He is also a hard-working player, who presses the opposition and wins the ball back using his defensive skills and tackling ability.

On this day in 1990, 1994 & 2000, Man City trio Walker, Stones & Foden were born

On this day in 2018, Liverpool confirmed the signing of Fabinho

On 28 May 2018, Liverpool announced that Fabinho would sign for the club on a long-term contract for a reported initial fee of £39 million.

Fabinho played at centre-back against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup third round and away vs Brighton. Following his performances, manager Jurgen Klopp praised him and stated that he is a "new centre-back option." On 4 May 2019, with Liverpool's title race going down to the wire, Fabinho won his side a free-kick from which Liverpool scored to beat Newcastle 3–2 in a huge win away from home.
