Police investigate photo claiming to show Emiliano Sala's body in the morgue

British police are looking into a picture that has been posted on social media that alleges to show the corpse of Emiliano Sala in the morgue.

Sala, who tragically passed away in January, died as the plane carrying him from France to Wales crashed mid-flight.

"We are aware that a picture reported to be of Sala's body has been shared on social media channels and are disgusted that somebody did this," said a Dorset police spokesperson.

"We are investigating this incident and are working together with a number of agencies to establish how the picture was taken and who is responsible."

The plane and player's body were found at the bottom of the English Channel two weeks after his disappearance and the police have described the photo's publication as "shameful".

Pilot David Ibbotson's body wasn't recovered.
