The Spaniard is out of contract this summer and has failed to agree an extension to his deal at Old Trafford.

They offered him a four-year deal that would have doubled his money, and considerably more than he has been presented with elsewhere, according to Forbes.

Herrera's agent pushed for a five-year £300,000-a-week deal, but United would not pay such a high salary to a player who turns 30 this year, the report claims.

Man City ready to go head to head with rivals Man Utd for Wan-Bissaka

The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in his position and particularly impressed City when he starred in Palace's 3-2 win at Eastlands in December.

Valued at around £40million, Wan-Bissaka would crucially boost their homegrown quota also but City know they face competition from United with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a confirmed fan.
