Poch: Lloris will be in goal for Spurs' opener at new stadium despite errors

Mauricio Pochettino has thrown his full support behind his captain and under-fire goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

The Tottenham and France 'keeper took the blame for Sunday's defeat at Liverpool when his fumble from a header by Mohamed Salah knocked the ball towards defender Toby Alderweireld who deflected it into his own goal.

Spurs have taken only one point from the last 15 available in the Premier League and have been overtaken by rivals Arsenal.

But the manager has no plans to drop Lloris for the first game in the club's new stadium, against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

'He is my captain and one of the best 'keepers in the world,' said Pochettino. 'There is no doubt Hugo is one of the best. He will be in the goal. No doubt.

'We must be strong and back our players. Hugo is going to be great for us like always, and one of the most important players in the future as well.'

Pochettino will be without Eric Dier, Erik Lamela and Serge Aurier who are all injured. Fernando Llorente will sit out after a clash of heads at Anfield.

Harry Winks has returned to training after a groin problem and could be involved among the subs.
