Giroud reveals his greatest fear – TV alien ALF?!

The Arsenal striker can laugh about it now but has admitted that as a youngster he was terrified by the puppet who gave him nightmares

Olivier Giroud has revealed his greatest fear as a child and has given an answer you may not quite be expecting.

The France international says he dreaded the 1980s television character ALF, explaining that his brothers used to tease him mercilessly about the cuddly alien.

Asked about the thing he dreaded most in the official Arsenal programme he said: “This is so funny, but my brothers are older than me - I was the youngest, and they used to tease me about a kids TV character called Alf. Do you know him?

“Alf the Alien, my God he was so ugly and I was so scared of him. My brother used to say, ‘Be careful, Alf is going to get you tonight!’ They went too far with it!”

ALF may well have given Giroud nightmares but he could be set for more tonight should the Gunners fall to defeat to Spurs in the north London derby.
