Oxford United sign Brazilian left-back Ricardinho

Left-back Ricardinho has joined Oxford United on a one-year deal following the Brazilian's departure from Gabala.

The 32-year-old flew in from Sao Paulo to sign a contract with the League One club, with the option of a further year depending on appearances.

Ricardinho worked with Oxford manager Pep Clotet during his time at Swedish side Malmo, where he made exactly 200 appearances in a five-year spell that saw him feature in both the Champions League and Europa League.

He moves to England having spent the last three seasons playing for Gabala in the Azerbaijan Premier League.

Oxford have now signed 10 players this summer, including former Dutch international Dwight Tiendalli and midfielder Xemi from Barcelona B.

Clotet's first game since replacing Michael Appleton as manager is away at Oldham on Saturday, but Ricardinho won't be considered for selection until next week as the club awaits international clearance and allow him to acclimatise.
