Errors in Emiliano Sala flight plan confirmed

Investigations continue into the tragedy that took the life of Emiliano Sala and Dave Ibbotson with the latest information indicating that the missing pilot had made errors in the flight plan between Nantes and Cardiff.

The first was minor but unacceptable for a professional pilot as he confused the registration number of the aircraft, putting N246DB instead of N264DB.

However, the second mistake could have been fundamental in the tragic outcome as Ibbotson made the decision to fly under the VFR modality (visual flight) when the weather conditions suggested flying with instruments (IFR).

He did this because, as he himself had recognised in a Facebook post, he was not completely familiar with piloting.
