Inter bring back Gabigol

Caretaker Coach Stefano Vecchi has brought Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa back into the Inter squad against Crotone.

This is Vecchi’s first Serie A game since taking over from sacked Frank de Boer, though he was on the bench for a 2-1 Europa League defeat at Southampton on Thursday.

Gabigol is ineligible for that tournament, along with Joao Mario and Geoffrey Kondogbia, but they all return to the side this weekend.

De Boer famously left the Brazilian striker out of his squad against Sampdoria last week, insisting the €29.5m signing was “not ready” to play in Serie A.

Gary Medel continues his three-match ban, while Rodrigo Palacio and Cristian Ansaldi are injured.
