Wanyama: That Man United miss hurts

Victor Wanyama has vowed not to watch replay of Manchester United v Tottenham clash after they lost by a solitary goal at Old Trafford.

The Kenyan captain missed an open chance after he headed wide with keeper David De Gea to beat and Spurs went on to lose in the thrilling contest. Wanyama now says he does not want to see that miss again and has vowed to work hard in training and improve striking skills.

“I’m still hurting. I don’t want to see it again. I did everything well, peeled off to the back post but then I headed the ball with my face, I just mistimed it. That should have been a goal. I was disappointed. I need to work more in training to make sure I’m more clinical. This goal tonight gives me confidence again,” Wanyama told club’s official website.

Wanyama however, says it was good for Tottenham to bounce back to winning ways after losing to Manchester United. “We needed to win this game. We had a tough game at United, could have got something from the game but didn’t and coming into this game was a bit tough, but we’re happy we got the three points. Hull kept pressing us, then we scored the third and managed to control the game. It was an important win.”

Speaking on their next league match against Burnley, the burly midfielder said, “These are the tough games to play. Burnley make it tough, they don’t let you play and try to stop you. You saw that against Hull - it was a bit of a scrappy game and come Sunday, it will be the same type of game but we hope we can get three points again.”
