The Premier League have confirmed that all clubs will hold a minute's silence before their games this week as a mark of respect for missing Cardiff striker Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson.

This comes as authorities confirm they are no longer actively looking for Sala, Ibbotson or the plane they were in when they disappeared from radar on Monday.

In a short statement, the Premier League also conveyed that their thoughts are with the families of the two missing men.

Argentinian striker Sala had just completed a £15million move to Cardiff and was travelling to Wales after saying his goodbyes at former club Nantes when the plane disappeared from radar.

Searches have been carried out across the English Channel for the past three days without any success.

Harbourmaster Capt David Barker admitted that survival chances were 'extremely remote'.

He added: 'We reviewed all the information available to us, as well as knowing what emergency equipment was on board, and have taken the difficult decision to end the search.'
