On this day in 2018, Man Utd and Arsenal swapped Mkhitaryan for Sanchez
Manchester United signed Chile forward Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in a swap deal with midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan after a protracted transfer saga finally ended.
“I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world," Sanchez, who takes the club's No.7 shirt, told Man Utd's official website. "I have spent three-and-a-half wonderful years at Arsenal and I bring with me very positive memories of that great club and its fans.
"I’m very happy that we could finish this deal and I’m very happy to be here," Mkhitaryan told Arsenal's official website.
"It’s a dream come true because I’ve always dreamed of playing for Arsenal. Now that I’m here, I’ll do my best for this club to create history."

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder has been one of the stars of the season so far with City manager Pep Guardiola even describing him as “one of the best players” he’s ever seen.
“I am really happy to have signed this new deal,” De Bruyne, who joined the Citizens from Wolfsburg in 2015, told mancity.com.

On this day in 2013, Sneijder left Inter
Wesley Sneijder has completed his move to Galatasaray from Inter Milan and admitted he didn't join one of the top five clubs in Europe because he no longer sees himself as one of the top five players around.
The playmaker, who joined Inter from Real Madrid for 15million euros (£12.6m) in 2009, had not featured for the Nerazzurri since a 2-0 victory at Chievo in September after publicly refusing to take a 2million euros (£1.7m) pay cut on a contract that ran until June 2015.
On this day in 1980, Ex-Madrid defender Woodgate was born
His performances in Europe for Newcastle led to Spanish club Real Madrid signing him for £13.4 million in August 2004. Injuries blighted his time in Madrid as he failed to make a single appearance during the entire 2004–05 season. He endured an awful debut for Real Madrid as he scored an own goal and was later sent off for two bookable offences.
On this day in 2005, Menez became the youngest player in Ligue 1 history to score hat-trick
That month, Sochaux rose as high as third in the table, but they dropped to 10th by the time Bordeaux came to town in January, following a 6-match winless streak. The Girondins, meanwhile, were 7th.
The two sides were evenly matched until Sochaux left back Monsoreau put the hosts ahead in the 73rd minute. Then Menez ensured that there would be comeback, adding goals in the 78th and 82nd minutes. He completed his hat-trick with a tasty chip over Girondins keeper Ramé in the 85th minute. He was 17 years, 8 months, and 15 days old at the time.
On this day in 1920, World Cup-winning England manager Alf Ramsey was born
Ramsey proved his value as a manager and a fortune teller when hosts England did, in fact, win the 1966 World Cup with a 4-2 victory over West Germany in the Final. He was unable to replicate his success, however, and after lackluster performances in the 1968 European Championship and 1970 World Cup, Ramsey was sacked when England failed to qualify for the 1974 World Cup.
